In the Name of God, Amen

This thirteenth day of April in the year of our Lord One thousand six hundred and ninety five I Thomas Bacon of Wansworth in the County of Surrey Esquire being in reasonable good health of body and disposable memory praised to God for it do hereby make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in manner following

After an humble recommendation of my Soul unto God my Creator and most Gracious Redeemer beseeching him through Jesus Christ to pardon all my Sins and accept of me my desire is that my body in hopes oaf a resurrection to eternal life be decently buried at the discretion of my Executors or Executrixes hereafter named And as for that worldly and temporall Estate which by the blessing of God I now enjoy I dispose these as followeth

First I give and bequeath all that my real and fee simple Estate and Domain what ever lying in Alderton or for where within the County of Suffolk commonly called or known by the name of Alderton Hall Farm now in the occupation of Francis Lambert Kent with the Mill and Millhouse in the occupation of Richard Park and all other their appurtenances and ____ thereunto belonging together with the Avowson right of Patronage and Presentation to the Rectory and Parish Church of Alderton aforesaid unto my beloved Granddaughter Mary Bacon and to the lawful heirs of her body forever upon the condition notwithstanding hereafter named and specified viz. of her paying unto my Grandson Thomas Andrew the Sum of two hundred pounds when she shall attain the full age of twenty one years and shall in the meantime pay towards his better education the sum of ten pounds yearly

And shall also pay unto my Granddaughters Mary Andrew and Martha Andrew and to each of them the Sum of one hundred pounds apiece as either of them shall attain the age of eighteen years and shall in the meantime pay the respective Tutor _ of five pounds apiece yearly toward their better maintenance

And shall ___ pay unto Mrs Elizabeth Smyth, widow (the Relict of Doctor Brian Smyth) during her life if still living the Annuity of twenty pounds deducting for ___ ___ due to her every Michaelmas out of the Corn Tythe of ___ and Friston in Suffolk sold by me to Sir Henry Johnson

And shall also pay towards the repair of Alderton Church if not given and payd by me thereupon in my lifetime the Sum of fifty pounds which on ___ and my ___ Tenants amounts I think most duly bestowed whenever th Parishoners of Alderton and the respective ___ therein shall by the further charitable ____ of some others be enabled and accordingly fall upon the ___ repayed of the said ___ for the preventing of its becoming or continuing a ___

And shall also pay unto my Grandson Nathaniell Andrew the Sum of fifty pounds within the year after my decease

Item I give and remit unto my Son In Law Thomas Andrew the fifty pounds due to me from him by Bond

I give and bequeath unto my Daughter In Law Mrs Elizabeth Mole five pounds and to my much esteemed friend Mr Nathaniel Parkhurst Minister of Yoxford in Suffolk five pounds

Item I also give to the poor of the parish of Alderton fifty shillings and to the poor of the parish in which my body shall be interred fifty shilings

And to the Minister of the said parish forty shillings

And to my Servant attending upon my person at the time of my death I give all my wearing Cloths Linens and woolen

Item I also give unto my Grandson Thomas Andrew my Library of Books

Item I also give unto my said Granddaughter Mary Bacon my Mother Pearl Cabinet and that therein which being her Grandmother’s is likest to be most valued by her

And in case my said Granddaughter Mary Bacon should dye having no lawful heirs of her body or shall refuse or neglect to perform any of the formentioned conditions in which I have hereby given the aforesaid Estate to her as therein to perform then many of theses cases of failures and want of heirs of her said body I do hereby give and bequeath all that my aforesaid fee simple Estate and Domains with their appurtenances lying in Alderton aforesaid or for where together with the Avowson right of Patronage and Presentation to the Rectory and Parish Chursch of Alderton aforesaid unto my Grandson Thomas Andrew and his heirs for ever

And for the better discharge of my Debts reasonable funeral charges and aforesaid Legacies I do lastly give and bequeath unto my Executors hereafter named all other my personal Estate Arrears of Rent Money Bills Bonds or other debts or things unbequeathed and due unto me at the time of my death

And do hereby make nominate and appoint my Son in Law Thomas Andrew and Granddaughter Mary Bacon Executors of this my Last Will and Testament Revoking and making void all former Wills written with my own hand in one sheet of paper and subscribed and sealed with my own hand and seal and publickly declared to be may last Will and Testament the day and year aforesaid
