Patrick Gordon's father was a descendant of the Gordons of Birsemoir (a cadet branch of the Gordon Earl's of Huntly). While there is not a lot of information about his Birsemoir ancestors, there is certainly enough evidence to prove the connection to Alexander Gordon, the 3rd Earl of Huntly.



William or Guillaume Chambrelan, Peter Chamberlen the younger's father lived in Paris, France. According to the 1634 Visitation of London which was attested by his grandson Dr. Peter Chamberlen, William was a younger son of a Chamberlayne of Tankerville, Normandy.


Peter Chamberlen, who was the father of Hugh Chamberlen the elder was born to Peter Chamberlen the younger and Sara (nee de Laune) Chamberlen. He was baptised at the French Huguenot church on Threadneedle Street in London on 12^th^ May 1601


I Peter Chambrelan the elder of London Chirurgion beinge at this present weake of body but of perfect minde and memory (thankes be therefore given vnto Allmightie God) doe make and declare this my last will and testament Indented in writinge in manner and forme followinge That is to saie

The visitation of 1634 makes clear that Thomas Luther's father was Richard Luther alias Hewett of Stapleford Tawney. It also states that Richard had 2 wives and that he had children by each wife. However, it does not give their names.
