Edward Luther was born on 21st December 1669 and baptised at St. Nicholas, Kelvedon Hatch in Essex on 28th December 1669. His parents were Richard and Rebecca (nee Rudge) Luther

In the Name of God, Amen. This is the Last Will and Testament of me, Richard Luther of Vicar’s Hill in the Parish of Boldre in the County of Southampton, Esquire, which I make and declare in manner following (that is to say):


I John Taylor of Duke Street in Bath Esq. do make this my last will and testament as follows I desire to be privately buried in a wall’d grave in any one of the country churches near Bath or any other place where I may die and that no settlement be put up over my door and that all my just Debts may be paid as soon as convenient after my Decease which at this time I do not think amount to fifty pounds



Ann Jane Taylor, Robert Nurse’s wife, and my great great grandmother was a descendent of John Taylor, the Landscape Painter, so he was my 5th great grandfather. John was the only son of Abraham Taylor and Philadelphia Gordon - the daughter of Major General Patrick Gordon2, Deputy Governor and effective head of the Province of Pennsylvania from 1726 until his death in 1736.
